Hi Pam. Nice use of color on the red leaf and I like that you are starting to use the embossing tool for the veins. It takes a while to master that tool. I’m still struggling with it. The problem with these leaves is that they have an outline feel. I think it is the same issue you were having with the leaf and black eyed susan. You are going too dark too soon. Try working up the tones with a medium brown or grey. Then go darker as you start to see the form. Don’t hit the darks until later in the drawing.
On the yellow leaf, start bringing in the darks around where you have the embossing. Wendy has a great video on drawing leaves. She is more drawing the area between the veins than the veins themselves. This is a great drawing to practice that on. As I said before, use a medium grey or brown, then switch to the darker pencil at the end.
