Hi Doug and thank you for your advice. I have placed the highlights lower but still not sure if they are in the right spot. They should probably be brighter but I couldn’t lift enough colour to achieve that. I also lifted some of the cast shadow. It’s a bit smudgy as my paper has been erased too much already but I understand what you meant about them being too dark. I also had trouble lifting enough colour from the leaf to make it appear concave. Even though I wasn’t able to achieve the changes to the degree that I would have liked I understand how your suggestions brought corrections to my drawing. I also really appreciated the advice on the grisaille. Thanks!
I think the highlights are now positioned better Patricia. Unfortunately the paper sometimes has limitations, but you learned something from the process and that is the goal! Great job!
I love this composition, Patricia. And I think that this is looking great! I really love how you captured the feel and thickness of those brussel sprout leaves. I especially like that top leaf on the the bottom-most brussel sprout. Really beautifully done. And that cross-section! – love it. Nice subtle cast shadows too. Good job.
