Hello Sam, I’m a bit embarrassed, because I’m new to the program and thought I was putting my photos in a private folder. Apologies if it looked as though I was demanding feedback from you! Having said that, I appreciate your comments very much, so thank you for your time. Can others see this work too? I’m from Australia and have dabbled in drawing/painting for years but thought it was about time to learn some actual skills. 🙂 Even these first few lessons have been wonderful. Particularly the idea of layering for light and dark. Thank you so much for your time. Peta
Peta, oh my goodness. Please don’t apologize! This is what the artfeed is for. We are here to give you feedback and encouragement. Please don’t ever be embarrassed to share a drawing. You will find that we all learn from one another, and often the drawings that we would normally be embarrassed to share are the most helpful for all of us. With that said, this is beautiful, and you are already showing really nice three dimensional form. Off to a fantastic start!!
Thank you Pam… I’m starting to get the hang of how this all works now. I’m so impressed that you give feedback on our work, I thought it was only going to be video tutorials to watch. 🙂
Again welcome Peta! Apologies that I didn’t catch that you were a first time poster. Our comments are always meant to be helpful and encouraging. So I’ll echo Pam to say please keep posting! You have joined a welcoming. supportive and friendly community, and as Pam said, we learn so much from sharing our work with each other. And yes! – you have a great knack for this 🙂 Our goal is to enjoy drawing and to enjoy plants! How can we not win? 🙂
Thank you @sam-mcwilliams, it’s been such a fantastic week of drawing for me. I have learnt SOOO much in the first videos and enjoy trying all the different skills. Once I go through them all, I’ll work on practising the things I need to work on (like reflected highlights and cast shadows… ugh… driving me nuts). Thanks for letting me know how to link to you, that’s helpful. See you around! Peta
Nice! 6-7-8-9 can go darker. And in your yellow/brown/dark sepia work on a smoother transition from right to left 9-8-7-6.
