Not finished with this yet, but I need to walk away from it for a while bc it’s driving me crazy, and I’m not loving it. But it’s been an interesting study. It’s twigs from different Acer rubrum (red maple) trees. Red maples are dioecious: some trees only have male flowers and others only have female flowers. The twig on the bottom right is from a female tree. And it looks like the flowers were already pollinated bc you can see little tiny itty bitty samaras starting to form from the ovaries. Anyway, I may finish it, or I may start over. But either way, I’m taking a break from it so I don’t throw it in the trash.
Hi Pam- seeing these in my yard I never would have thought to draw them and doing a great job with them. It is a great page and I hope you finish it!!!!! What about it is bothering you? You are doing a magnificent job capturing the details!

Thanks Doug! I added to it, and posted it above. It’s growing on me 🙂
