Patty, what a nice composition! Great petal edges and leaf veining. Nice toning in the center of the corona; you can tell that there is depth there. My only suggestion here is to tone a bit more on the leaves that are behind the flowers, so that the flowers stand out a bit more and are in front. Really lovely drawing!!
Looks great Patty, You can also saturate your yellows in some spots a bit more if you want to make the color more vibrant. Or a layer of yellow watercolor. And as Vern mentioned perhaps a bit more saturated or darker greens on the leaves, and tone the leaf veins down a tiny bit. Not everywhere, just sometimes. These changes don’t need to be made if you like your drawing as is but only if you want to create more impact. It is a lovely drawing!
Very nice drawing, Patty! You really got the form and structure of the daffodils, while keeping their delicacy! I have such a hard time with daffodils!
Thanks, nita,
I used to think they were hard also, but then after drawing them several times over years, they weren’t as hard anymore. main thing for me is to get rough sketch in on the basic shapes of the flower, especially the tubular shape or cone of the middle and the correct perspective of that. then the circular eclispe of the petals on the outside. if you can get those two things in correct alignment and perspective to one another, the rest falls in place easier.

Love this! The daffodils are so delicate looking. Love the colors and toning too.
