I am back. I just Really Really love the immediacy, the sense of urgency in
the red bud. It is like you show us how that plant feels/thinks in early spring.

Oooh, Patty, I love this page. You’ve shown some excellent structural information in your forsythia; it is clear how it attaches to the branch and how it grows. Love the loose flowers on both plants. My only suggestion to you here would be to add some more darks to the forsythia so we know which blooms are in front and which are behind. This will help define those flowers a bit more, I think. Great branches!! Yay, spring!
Thank you. I did the red bud a little faster than I regularly work. I think my more gestural hand shows up in my drawings when I do that. Trying to keep something fresh, but also doing detail, which I can get hung up in, is always a challenge.
(I really love it. Something in it makes me remember the branch of almond blossom by van gogh- there is a successful alchemy in them both, -at least to my eyes. A pleasure to look at, -so, thank you.)
These are just beautiful together, on the same page. I just love them both.

These are just beautifully rendered.
Lovely page, Patty. The flowers have such a whimsy about them — like they’re dancing in the sun & the breeze.
Wonderful page, Patty! The drawing is beautiful, and the yellows and pinks play off each other so well. It just says Spring! Graceful composition.
Patty – I have a friend who just asked me if I’ve done a redbud – she wanted a print. I don’t – maybe I should put her in touch with you?
