Thanks, Vanessa. I’ve always enjoyed drawing heavily textured type things rather than flowers, ect. On to my real weakness…leaves and the color green in the next lesson.! The acorns were kind of fun..like little spheres.
Hi Patty, these nuts look great. You are doing well with combining showing pattern and texture with three dimensional form. Rule number 1 is that form comes first and pattern is second! I think you are doing a good job on this.
I kept trying to remember that on the walnut shell, but the heavy texture started getting in the way.

@pjcoulter3 Patty, what a fun study! Wow, I can see how the walnut texture would be distracting! So intricate! I think the buckeye is my favorite. Nice and dark with a shimmering highlight. Lovely.
Is buckeye another term for horse chestnut? These look a lot like the fruits of a horse chestnut tree we have in my neighborhood, though a bit bumpier. I will have a look-see…
These look fantastic!

Thank you, adding the Red Venetian helped with getting that strange color of the buckeye. It took awhile to realize that though.
These are lovely. What great page.
