Really nice Karye! Good colors and the highlights convey the shiny nature of the skin. The reflected light looks good but I question if it would go up as high on the right side as you have shown. Generally the reflected light is caused by light emanating up from the surface onto the subject that it is sitting on. I would expect to see it start where you have and go up the right side up to the bottom line where there is a space in the skin. That upper right side would have be furthest from the light source so it would be in shadow and toned darker. I would consider going in with a good sharpened dark pencil (red/violet or even dark sepia) and darken the right edge of the skin on the upper left. I would also add some more dark in between some of the roots to give them more definition. Nice job!
Yes, there was a lot of reflected light bouncing off of the red onion. It was in a white box. I checked my reference photo. I will make some adjustments and thank you for your feedback. I appreciate this!
