Lovely, Patricia! This leaf doesn’t strike me as being overworked, as you say — the shadows are deep & rich, the highlights textured & subtle. Together, they give the leaf tremendous, realistic form. I love the colours, especially as they transition from one to another. The veins are very convincing too! Quite beautiful!
Patricia, I think this is a lovely rendering! You got nice, undulating surfaces that correspond with the veining, and your colors are really beautiful.
I like the way the colors change on the leaf too. And I like the “bumpiness” of the surface. If you still have the leaf – there is an artist who continues to paint/draw her subject as it changes. Might be fun!
