I know! Sometimes, however, I get so taken with the colors and patterns that I forget all about paying attention to the dimensionality of the leaf. I’m wanting to capture more of the texture as well as the colors and patterns.
Hi Patricia- Agreed! It is so easy to head right to working on the colors and patterning. The fun, challenging things are calling our names! It is also tricky working on flat, colored leaves because there is often not much dimension visible. Especially when there is a lot of pattern! In those instances I find it helps me to think of how I would do the highlights and toning if the leaf was all green and act accordingly.
Welcome to the ArtFeed! Nice study page Patricia! So many gorgeous autumn leaves to draw – so little time!
