This is one of many attempts to draw this pine cone. It’s the first one i added color to, but still feel like I’m not sure about the shading. Without the color it seems like a lot of shading, but now that I’ve added color I’ tempted to shade more.
This is looking good Patricia! It looks wonderful on that paper! It has good form with a nice highlight and range of shadow toning. I don’t know if I would have known you added color if you had not said that. As I said on your branch post, you have to keep adjusting the shadow toning as you add layers of color so the cone does not lose the form you have established.
