I’ve been drawing this peony bud every morning for 4 days. It’s amazing how quickly it grows and this morning I was so struck with the mountainous scene that was revealed inside! Still working on getting the shading right. Trying to exercise skills we learned when drawing garlic.
Great study page Patricia! It is a great idea to follow the progression of a flower! If you are drawing the plant outdoors (rather then a cutting that you can draw indoors) you have to remember how the lighting should be, not as you are seeing outside where there are light sources coming from every direction. A light grey can be used for the toning on a white flower. Also examine the flower as there are sometimes subtle shades of color you can add, like light greens, pinks, purples, etc. Wonderful!
