Yes! Looking good Lucille. Watch out for the dark outlining of the main vein. I see that you let it fade out a bit in some places – that’s a good instinct. I try to take my photos in indirect natural light – for me – on the floor right next to my patio sliding glass door works well. Are you taking them with your phone or a camera? If phone, make sure you are focusing – on an iPhone a tap on the screen focuses. If you want or like to resize your photos on your computer – you can choose a good size for the web, such as 640×640. On a Mac you can open the pic in preview, click Tools, then Adjust Size, then Fit into: 640×640 pixels. That’s not necessary – only if you want to.
Thank you, all very helpful. I know this falls short in many ways but at least I am getting to the point when I can share the specimen as well as my drawing.
Lucille, This is beautiful. Yes, the eternal problem of the changing specimen! Bane of my existence! But that is why we draw them!. to capture the fleeting.
Hey Lucille, you are making leaps and bounds. I am so proud of you!

@katylyness I love what you said about capturing the fleeting. Well said. Lucille, I agree with Wendy that you are really improving, and it’s so nice to see!! These color transitions here are so lovely, from green to yellow to brown. Very nice. Re: photos, you can change the resolution in your camera settings so that the images are a bit larger and more detailed. Sam’s suggestion of 640×640 seems a little small to me still… I’d go with something larger if you have the choice.
Leaf picked this morning, but dried quickly. Oh the problems of a beginning student and a changing specimen!😉
Also, how to take brighter photos that don’t get fuzzy when enlarged? Do I need a different camera?

I’d add a cast shadow.
