Beautiful! I really think the cool darks work with this drawing. It’s a delicate balance. You want to keep that warm feel, but add a depth to the dark shadow areas.

Wow, Maureen. This is really captivating. Beautiful job rendering the pattern on the seed head!!! WOW. And gorgeous, well-placed darks there.
@doug-milne I took my time with the seed head, used tracing paper for measuring then enjoyed observing patterns and lights and darks. Hope you guys are keeping warm, finally out of the minus 30 here so maybe spring isn’t too far away!
Wow Maureen!!!!! The dried up leaf really compliments the seed head. And that seed head – amazing!!!!!
Beautiful!

Oooooh. So moody. Love it.
@vern it was a fun project, so many snowy “goldy” specimens to choose from in our yard and by the river

@katylyness I really enjoyed your indigo idea in seed head and leaf interior. Thanks for your tips!
@ishbel thank you, hope all is well on Salt Spring!
Such a great drawing! I’m glad you liked using the dark indigo. I always like to throw an unexpected color in to my drawings.
Oooh this little buddy is really showing the effort of resilience needed during these times isn’t it!? A visual poem. 🙂 I love it, Maureen.
