Hi Maureen! Beautiful colors and rendering. I am struggling with where your light source is coming from. I would add more dark shadow toning on the leaves where they emerge from under the flower and where they overlap. That will help establish the light source position and also make the flower pop even more! I would also add some dark tones on the appropriate side of the center well of the flower to emphasize it’s depth. Don’t forget the stamen shadow.
@doug-milne Thank you for these great tips! We’re in Kauai, so hard to choose from so many different flowers! What color would you suggest for stamen shadow?
Hi Maureen! Ahhhhhhh Kauai – such a special place! I think I would try a terra cotta color to deepen the shadows in the center well and for the stamen shadow. I would do the stamen shadow lightly – it just needs be a suggestion.
