HI Sarah, I think this drawing is lovely. Very good composition. The flowers are so skinny so it is hard to get much contrast and toning, but I think you have done a very good job. Love the twisting vines and leaves
Thank you, Wendy! I love this plant, both for it’s own beauty, and because it’s a favorite of the hummingbirds who are currently passing through on their migration northward. Who knows, maybe a little bird that stopped at that plant for a sip will end up in your garden this summer 🙂
I love this ! It takes me home !… we always had hummingbirds around these. Gorgeous, your drawing. The motion in the climbing vine leads me straight down memory lane…
I grew up in Venezuela, but often visited family in West Virginia and Texas… I remember this plant in both places… and in Texas, I remember it with hummingbirds. . .
Texas is where I’m living, and drawing, now, Nita, but I had a childhood somewhat parallel to yours, except traveling between Norway and upstate New York. Lovely the way plants weave through our experience of life. It’s one of the reasons I so love drawing them

Thank you, Nita! I wonder where “home” was that this plant reminds you of? Florida perhaps? Or Southeast somewhere…
