This is so cool! I love the way you have illustrated the fact that it’s a night bloomer with the dark all around it. How on earth did you draw it? Did you sit outside in the dark? 🙂
Thanks, Marci!! It grows by my porch, so I sat out with the porch light and a lantern. Biggest problem was the humidity (83%!) softening my paper so I had trouble laying down color. The leaves especially suffered, as they came last. Still, it was really fun!

Sounds like great fun! I love the shading on the flowers & how the darkened background really make them extend beyond the page.

Have you thought about doing the drawing on dark paper? Might be very stunning!
Intriguing idea, Liz! I’ve never worked on dark paper, so it would involve some new technique for me, but it would certainly capture the drama
