I drew the pomegranates in August in south Spain before we came back. There were no ripe fruit at that time. The seeds are from a pomegranate I bought last week. Not sure where it’s from.
Such a beautiful drawing! Now that you have added that lovely rich color of the seeds to the drawing, I think if you bring more of that deep color into the darks of the rest of the work (particularly the flower) it would really integrate the elements. Also I love hearing the history the piece! Oh! to be in southern Spain!
Thanks, Maureen. We’re eating a lot of pomegranate seeds right now!

This looks great, Sheila! I like Katy’s idea of incorporating just a touch of that dark red somewhere else in the composition… maybe even just on the shadow side of the full flower? This turned out so good!!
Gorgeous. It is a bit confusing though, that you have the ripe seeds, but no ripe pomegranate. I’m only getting technical with you since you’re a pro. 🙂 It’s almost like I want to see a cross section of a ripe fruit to see how those seeds lie within the entire fruit. And wow – just gorgeously drawn, Sheila. All of it. The seeds are epic.
Thanks everybody for your comments and suggestions. Pomegranates are possibly my favorite plant to draw. I’ll be ready for another round hopefully next August!

How beautiful!
Thanks, Katy. I was wondering about all that dark red at the bottom. I’ll go back and look for my photos at this point.

Beautiful Sheila! It makes me think of our trip to Greece – a life time ago! I love seeing your work!!!!
