This is my first recipe/ode. I think the crazy ice storm, beautiful, but terrifying kept me indoors long enough to unhinge (a little more 😎), and that’s my excuse for writing an ode.
I’m thinking I need to add a little more leaf to the red lettuce. Not totally happy with the placement/negative space and it’s glued down…. Farm share pick up Saturday thank goodness!
Hi Sheila! I really like the placement. The only thing thing that I question is the green subject on the right. It does not have the same feel as the rest of the subjects. Especially for being the biggest piece on the page it does not have the same detail or contrast as the other subjects.
@doug-milne thanks for your feedback, Doug. I’ll work on that piece of arugula on the right. I was wilted and I guess that didn’t help me give it more variation.
Thanks Pam. I didn’t check my comment carefully to Doug. I wasn’t wilted, or maybe I was. But the arugula definitely was getting there. You’re encouraging me to keep writing odes 🙂

Love this, Sheila! (I agree; that ice storm really gave us some time to dive deep into the subconscious and spend extra time unhinging.) 😉 …Would you consider adding a few more dark details to the celery and some of the lettuce overlaps? Just for a touch more contrast? Beautiful details in the texture of the lettuces!!!

@vern. Thanks for the suggestions, I’ll definitely go back in and work on it.
