Greetings! This is a fun page! You have been very adventurous and there are many successful areas and ones I would take another look at. As a rule, when cylinders cross each other only one side of the bottom cylinder will have a cast shadow. By putting shadows on both sides of the bottom cylinder it looks like that bottom piece is carved out and the top piece is nestled into the bottom piece rather than crossing over the top of it. When you transfer this lesson to a botanical drawing, a stem is going to rest on top of a stem it crosses over not nestle into it and you can see the importance of getting this right. Some of your cylinders have a nice range of toning, but on some I don’t see highlights or a range (the center vertical cylinder and the brown vertical cylinder to its left for example). You can set up chop sticks or pencils, etc. and light them appropriately to see where the highlights (and toning) should be. I posted a drawing on the Feed recently as a reference for this toning exercise and maybe that will also help.

. Thank you. This was not intentional, it got away from me. I didn’t want to throw it away. I will check out the feed.
Wow this looks so cool, though! It’s like you’re weaving a basket!!! 🙂
