Hi Julie- I am not seeing shadows on the actual branch which would be a good reference for your drawing. Judging from the cast shadows on the actual branch there are conflicting light sources. Ideally you want to set up a light that is coming down at a 45 degree angle as if over your left shoulder and have minimal or no other light sources. Your rendering is good and having more of a range of tones will take it to the next level and enhancing it’s cylindrical form.

I took this photo on the kitchen counter, not where I draw so the light is little funky. Wendy is right, drawing branches is addictive.
I agree! I keep collecting more to draw, even though they are “just branches.” Nicely done study.
