Hi Carol, Yes, it is translucent paper. The vellum I used is from Dick Blick and may be called Bristol because of its weight – not sure. It is like a thicker kind of tracing paper used for drawing and ink and I wanted to see how it worked with colored pencils. It’s very different and I will try it again with more saturation. The benefit is that I can do a graphite drawing, then lay the vellum over it and trace my drawing without a lot of fuss. By placing a white sheet between the original drawing and the vellum, I can see better how it is coming out. My colored pencil skills are not very good and this is a way for me to try them out without “ruining” a drawing.
