Hi Susan- it is so tricky with complex pods, (Sweet Gum, etc.) to tone the respective protrusions plus have the pod itself be toned as a whole so it has form (in this case round). I think your spikes need some more individual toning in addition to overall form toning. This is a nice subject for the Kraft paper. Good job so far!

Susan, I love this subject. I think you’ve done a nice job showing the detail here, and I think just a few punches of sharp Dark Sepia pencil in a few places will really finish this off nicely. 🙂
