Hi Susan- you really nailed the color and intensity of that flower! The right side of the leaf looks closest to the bluish color and fuzzy texture I expect of this plant.
Hi Doug: you know, the magenta of this flower is so intense that it’s flat; so I added the toning but I think it changed the character of the flower. I’ll try again. They bloom all summer. The leaf is actually that green color, though I think of it a more the grey of the stem. I tried to make it more grey, but the green comes through now. I’ll work on that on the next one also. Thanks for your input.

Susan, I love the pink color here! I think that in addition to defining the details with a little bit of dark (which it looks like you did), it’s important to remember to also have light areas to create contrast. If you draw this flower again, try leaving some highlights in a couple of the petals, and I think it will look more realistic and have a bit more movement. 🙂 Beautiful, delicate work here.
