Hi Susan! Red onions are such good subjects! You have done a great job! The colors are spot on and you captured the papery texture of the top skin. There are a couple of tweaks I would make. The reflected light is a little too white and I would tone it down by adding some color. I would also lighten the cast shadow a little with a kneaded eraser. Lastly, I would expect the lines on the papery skin to curve more at the ends and also disappear at the edges. The lines currently stop before the edge and many seem too straight.
Thanks, Doug. I like all your suggestions. Honestly, I got lazy with the cast shadow and stopped lightening/minimizing it. And even tho the highlight is not so white on the paper (as in the photo), I’m going to add more color to it — think it will be better. I worked on getting those lines more curved and just couldn’t get them there! I’ll go at it again. And lessen pressure at the ends of the lines.
