Hi Susan- the highlights make sense. I think there would be a couple of areas that would also have a highlight, such as the section in the middle. The sections are so plump there is a lot of toning required for each section. Maybe the highlights would also be a little longer and not so circular. I also wonder about the color. The highlights look very yellow in this image. I would add some dark toning at the bottom of the sections on the left. You are off to a good start!
Susan, I also think you could add a little more Dark Sepia in some of the darkest areas. In addition to whitening up the highlights, that addition of dark will really bump up the contrast and 3-dimensional shape. What a cool looking tomato!
I had to draw this tomato grown by a friend from a photo so had to imagine the light source. Does it seem logical? Thanks.
