Very nice, Susan! The skin of these apples are beautiful. The color and texture is gorgeous. And those highlights are great. You are getting wonderful 3D form. Great job! You may want to adjust the cast shadow of the apple on the right a bit. When your light is coming from the upper left, that cast shadow should go back behind the right side of that apple at a 45 degree angle. And there is one spot on the left apple that you could adjust to make it look a little less angular. That area on the left side edge to the left of the highlight, there is a little pointy bit, and then the line that descends down from that spot is quite straight. Do you see what I mean? You could just make that just a bit more curved to make that feel a little bit more natural if you want to. I’m really loving these apples, Susan. You are doing a great job.
Pam gave such great feedback. I love the angles of the stems – they communicate so much character and keep my gaze moving around the page. I appreciate the cast shadows of the stems. You could “knock down” the embossed dots in the core shadow areas on the right hand side of the apples so that they recede a bit and curve away as the apple curves away. Just put a little watercolor in/over them that matches the other colors you have in your shadow side. You did an excellent job with the skin – it looks real!
