Thank you for the critique Doug. I did the initial drawing in watercolor. I wasn’t happy with the stem color and by the time I tried to fix, the stems became too dark. I then tried to lift the paint and I finally reached a point of no return where it the stems became muddy. Based on your comments, I went in again to the petals and stems with color pencil to see if I could bring in more life. I think it helped a little.
It is a wonderful and fun piece Wendy and you certainly don’t want to overwork it and ruin it! I always have to say a mantra of “leave the highlight” when I do watercolor. As you know it is best to leave it on the light side because you can always make it darker where needed. Looking forward to seeing your next piece!
