@yelniklk Lesley, this is a good start. This branch could use some more dark tones on the shadow side to enhance its 3-dimensionality. A gradual transition from dark to light on all the edges here would make this really pop off the page. You could also define the part where the smaller bit of branch extends out on the right. Look closely at your branch and examine what happens at that crucial transition point.
I want to point out, as a teachable moment to all, what happens with the embossed texture here. The embossing tool almost works like a mask; protecting areas of the paper from receiving color that is applied on top by creating a sort of “valley” that lies below the paper surface. While we often use the embosser on the plain, white paper before we add color, resulting in white spots/texture, you have shown us what happens when you emboss on top of a colored layer; in this case, #184 ochre. What we see when other colors are laid on top is now the yellow color, rather than the white of the paper.
