Description
Wednesday, May 10, 10am – 4pmEST
Instructors: Draw Botanical Instructors
Level: All levels
Botanical Subject(s): Foraged mushrooms such as morels (if we are lucky enough to find them!), ramps, spring ephemerals (wildflowers growing in the woods)
Workshop Description:
Explore outdoors at Hollengold Farm, where the garden is at your fingertips and the woods are close by. What natural subject first captures your attention? A delicate spring wildflower? Or perhaps one of many foraged, edible plants, such as ramps and morels? Study what most intrigues you. Sketch casual plant portraits in your nature journal, and be sure to write down any field notes and observations.
We will draw out in the field if possible, so as not to disturb nature, but if you need more time to get to know your new plant friend, we will sustainably harvest a few choice subjects to bring back to our drawing tables in the open, solar-powered pavilion. (If we are lucky, we may even get to cook a few!)
Get 25% OFF this workshop when you register for our 4-day tulip workshop.
Class will begin at 10am in the solar-powered pavilion near the Hollengold Farm Stand, which is a covered outdoor space with a pleasant breeze in hot weather, and could be chilly in cooler weather. There is an indoor bathroom nearby as well as our store and store gallery. Feel free to show up a little early to get settled. Bring your own lunch.
Our address is:
Hollengold Farm
222 Lower Whitfield Rd
Accord, NY 12404
Recommended Supplies:
Find all of the supplies that we recommend here. Feel free to follow along with any supplies you have (your result may just end up looking a little different). We will have some art supplies available for purchase during the workshop.
Our lessons are about a combination of fundamental 3D art concepts and colored pencil and watercolor technique, so you can skip the supplies-specific tips and still learn a lot about art basics including perspective, light source, composition, etc. One of the main points we teach is colored pencil and watercolor technique for slow, continuous toning, but as long as you are able to achieve the same blending result with your chosen materials, you can still benefit from our course lessons.
Cancellation Policy: In the event you cancel over 6 weeks before, a partial refund of 70% will be given if we are able to fill your spot. If we are unable to fill your spot or if you cancel less than 6 weeks before, we cannot issue a refund.
We reserve the right to cancel a workshop at any time. If we cancel a workshop, you will receive a full refund.
