Description
These custom made wooden shapes are a tool to use to help in your botanical drawing practice. Use these shapes to visualize and draw light on form. Set up your shapes in the optional custom made box or use your own box, with one good light source. These light source models can be translated into more complex forms in nature such as flowers, fruits and leaves.
These shapes are also useful in learning how to draw in perspective, utilizing the technique of circles that turn into ellipses that create foreshortening when drawing flowers and fruits. The more complex nature forms of a leaf and an apple will help you understand how to create 3D modeling on these subjects.
These shapes were handmade with Catskill red maple wood and the optional box is made out of Catskill black cherry wood. The shapes are approximately 2 ½ inches wide by 3 inches high. The box is 10 ¼ inches wide by 5 ¾ inches high with a depth of 5 ¼ inches. All shapes are made by Catskill craftsman John Perella, who cuts, mills and creates with his own trees in his studio.
