Workshop Description:

This long-term project combines your botanical illustration, lettering, and composition skills to create an illustrated, hand-lettered “recipe page.” It  will end with an online exhibition, showcasing everyone’s finished “recipe pages.” We will meet once a month over 4 months to work together to complete our projects. You are also encouraged to attend our Open Studio* (dates listed above) to set aside time to work on this project and connect with other participants as we work together.

“Recipe pages” can be simple or complex; one page or an entire booklet; scale the project to whatever feels comfortable for you. (Don’t be intimidated by the “larger project,” we’ll do it together!)

Choose a Recipe: This can be easy or advanced, with many ingredients or just a few (…mint tea? …ratatouille?). A family heirloom recipe, a household favorite, a garden showcase! Or choose a few recipes and create a small booklet! We recommend choosing a recipe with lots of plant ingredients, so that you have many botanical options to draw.

*Draw Botanical Open Studio

A virtual space for advanced students to make time to draw together. Join Draw Botanical instructors and other talents of the Draw Botanical community to work on your independent drawing project.

In this informal environment, instructors share their live drawing tables and tips & tricks. They are also available to answer questions, but you can expect some stretches of silence while everyone focuses on their projects.

Since we’re all in the same “room,” if you get stuck, you have the live community to help you along. Show instructors your work, and they’ll help you get to the next step.

Open Studio holds us all accountable and sets aside time for us to further our drawing practice–with our Draw Botanical friends!

Our workshops often include a set of pre-recorded videos for you to watch as you prepare for class, as well as recordings of each workshop session, delivered via email. We encourage collaboration and community, and we strive to create a safe virtual environment for everyone to draw together. We provide live demonstrations and constructive critique of your work. If you are unable to attend at the time of the live workshop, you will receive recordings to watch at your convenience. ALL of the registration and video material for this workshop is delivered to you via email. Please be sure to add info@drawbotanical.com to your email contacts so that you do not miss correspondence from us!

Cancellation Policy: Cancellations at least one week in advance will receive a 95% refund (5% processing fee). If you cancel less than one week up to 48 hours before the event, we will give you a 95% refund, less 5% if we can find someone to replace your spot. Less than 48 hours cancellation, we cannot issue a refund. You will still receive all recordings from the workshop, and you can watch them at your convenience.
