Vern, I worked on crisping up the edge a little and defining the seeds in the back, as you suggested. 🙂

Vern, I’ve been working on the seeds and got carried away. The real things glow from inside and I think I’ll need to do 100’s to get that, but I love looking at them. So maybe I will do 100s!

thank you for your encouraging feedback Vern. I see what you say about the shadow, and see now how dark it is. I’ll try lightening it, and fading it more.

Thanks Vern. I think I’ll leave it since I have a heavy hand with shadows:)

thanks Vern. I appreciate your feedback. I’ll try breaking up the highlight – yes, that makes sense to me. And yes, this is my first project in The Practice of Botanical Drawing – I posted a few others that I did in the Basics course.

Thanks Vern. Time and place definitely made me decide on focal point. Kind of a relief, just a section!

I put them in. Will take a picture tomorrow with better light and send for feedback. Thanks!

Left the bottom of the page for seeds. I’ll see. Then I’ll eat it!

Hendrika, I love the onion skin, the shape of the onion and the highlight!

Helen, love the color variation and vine like branch. Are these growing near you?

Thanks Helen. DC had so many varieties of holly.

This is the other sepia and grey study of satsuma clementines. Besides no “color “, I did these two in a hotel room. The lighting was fixed on my right, so it was my first time drawing with the light from the right. (Which is comfortable because I’m left handed. ). So two new experiences.

I was in Washington DC for the holidays and tried doing relatively quick tonal studies in grey and sepia.

Do you ladies ever put the seeds in salad? It’s my favorite way to eat them!

Carol, it’s interesting to see it bloom with brown leaves that just keep curling! The bush is still opening here and there and it’s very cold now!?!

Thanks Pam. I’m not sure about shadows because I like the whiteness of the whole thing.
