Photo in the group The Practice of Botanical Drawing Discussion Board 8 years agoAfter seeing it again in the morning, I decided to add some watercolor to try to brighten it up a bit, and then used some light yellow ochre to try to brighten up the greenish gray spots, and then added some touches of dark Sepia. Then the paper started to tear in places, so I took that as a sign that it was finished. Not sure if it’s better or worse.

Photo in the group The Practice of Botanical Drawing Discussion Board 8 years agoThanks so much, Vern! I know I need daily practice to get ellipse and perspective down. It was good practice to redraw this one and I’ll definitely check out the daisy lesson next. 🙂

Photo in the group The Practice of Botanical Drawing Discussion Board 8 years, 1 month agoThank you! After a good night’s sleep, some hot coffee and dark chocolate, (fixes most everything) I started all over. The first time I used some Prismacolors because I have a limited number of Polychromos colors. Today I decided to work with only with the Polychromos that I have and nix the Prismacolors and I’m liking this go much better!… -

Photo in the group The Practice of Botanical Drawing Discussion Board 8 years, 1 month agoI love the composition with the root added. It looks like the upper part of the plant and the lower part of the plant are bowing and curtsying to prepare to dance before the king. -

Photo in the group The Practice of Botanical Drawing Discussion Board 8 years, 1 month agoThis really isl lovely. The overlaps of the petals on the leaves are distinct and delicate. The petals are are rounded and curling. The little touches of pink and soft greens are beautiful.

Your work is lovely! It’s amazing that you’re a newcomer. I can’t wait to see more and get deeper into Wendy’s classes. - Load More
