So cool. They were still closed when I clipped this one, but I noticed that they are open now on some of the trees in our woods. I think I need to do a second drawing with the open flowers.

Photo in the group The Practice of Botanical Drawing Discussion Board 8 years, 1 month agoOh, thank you, Vern, for your comments. I was not sure if I am headed in the right direction with technique. To achieve the effect, I had to create many, many layers. At your recommendation, I will give the next part a try and see how it goes. Thank you so much for your help. (I loved this first lesson so I am eager to try the next one!) -

Photo in the group The Practice of Botanical Drawing Discussion Board 8 years, 1 month agoVern, I’d love to come to the farm. I’ll have to see how things are going here…The top flower is an inside view of a pansy petal. This is one dramatic spring, so much blooming at one time. Overnight, trees seem to be leafing out! -

Photo in the group The Practice of Botanical Drawing Discussion Board 8 years, 1 month agoWe’re only moving across the hall, but it’s so much work!?! So, petal studies for now. What a beautiful spring we’re having here in the mid Hudson Valley, in town and in the woods.

Photo in the group The Practice of Botanical Drawing Discussion Board 8 years, 1 month agoI took a closeup of this part because I’m having trouble keeping my color from getting speckled instead of we’ll blended. Any tips to keep this from happening?
