Photo in the group The Practice of Botanical Drawing Discussion Board 7 years, 4 months agoThe common name in Spanish is “jara “ and in Latin, “Cistus albidus, the grey-leaved cistus, is a shrubby species of flowering plant in the family Cistaceae, with pink to purple flowers, native to south-western Europe antd western North Africa”. Wikipedia. It’s growing in dry, rocky soil. The petals are super wrinkly. I’ve now seen it in white, too.

These figs were growing out of/between giant cement blocks that make up a (wave) breaker in the fishing harbor! I’ll find some more stems. I like drawing them a lot. They are sturdy! -
