Beautiful colors on this autumn page, Cathie. I like how you were able to show those ridges on that gourd. You could add some more shadow color slowly on the right side and bottom of that gourd to make the whole thing look a bit more 3D, nice work.

Hi Cathie- this is a nice autumn study page! It is a really pleasing composition and the colors seem spot on! I think with the gourd and the acorns you could add more dark and mid-range toning to emphasize their form. Check the highlights on the acorns – they seem a little too close to the left edge. Hi Susan- the branch segments are beautifully rendered!!!! They have a wonderful crispness to them which I always love seeing! I’m not happy with the sample on the left – my paper was worked too much and was starting to fray when I tried to add the reflective highlight.

I’m gonna put in one tiny seed that fell out of the apple.

Also, f you push some greens darker on the leaf where it goes behind the flower it will make the paler yellows pop forward. Look for the areas where you can show contrast.
