Becky, this is looking so nice. You captured the shape of this lemon very nicely. I love your shimmery highlight. Nicely done. I think you could lighten the outside edge of the left side of the fruit a bit. It looks like it’s about the same value as the shadow on the right side of the fruit, and it should be quite a bit lighter than the shadow on…[Read more]

Becky, good question about the highlight. I do think you could make that highlight on the upper right a bit more vertically oblong. Good instincts! You could darken the highlight below it just a bit to show that it’s not quite as close to the light source as the one on the upper right.

Wow, Mary. This is looking so great!!! Those changes took it to a whole new level! It’s really beautifully done. Those shadows on those petals are wonderful, and the veining and curling and rippling looks very realistic. Very well done.

Gorgeous Beverley! I love the interesting composition. You captured the way the light moves around those petals beautifully. I really like the colors you chose for your shadows in those petals. They get nice and dark without making them feel dirty. Well done. I think you could make those stems look a bit more 3D. But I also kind of like the…[Read more]

@maureenclare Thank you so much, I’ve decided to include the tone bars in my drawings at this point but I’m not sure if it’s a good idea or not yet… Can always remove them later if I like 🙂

I tried to darken the center of the flower and use shading to separate the petals.

Exquisite — I love the composition. It’s really satisfying to see the color bands under each flower.

So lovely. I really like how your leaves lead the eye down to those beautiful pink flowers. Great job capturing all the little details on those flowers, buds, and their little peduncles. I really like that shadow that the top leaf is casting on the one below it. Really nicely done. I think you could tone down those leaf veins a bit, especially the…[Read more]

Instantly recognisable as dragonfruit (I love them!). Beautiful drawing Becky, and really helpful to read the comments that were left by the instructors. Thanks for posting.
