Hi Lisa, I love these types of pages. They are are real key to seeing into the artist’s methods and thought processes. Very impressive note taking!

So sorry to hear about your husband. I hope he is recovering well.
And glad you had the materials to produce these lovely drawings. Such a perfect way to use your time! -

Another beautifully done study of leaves! I like your subtle pillowing of the space between the leaves. And the complimentary colors of red and green give the drawing a real pop!

Hi Machi, this is a lovely study of leaves. Lovely and lively! I like the way you have tucked the seed pods in behind the leaves. A very effective composition.

Hi Ishbel, This is what I would call a muscular drawing. Its solidity jumps out at you! I like the muted hues. There is a unity to the colors. My only comment would be that compositionally it tends to direct the viewer off to the right.

Hi Dorothea- Good job on these leaves! Nice toning technique and range of tones. Couple of areas I would revisit. It seems like the right side of the bottom right leaf would also be more in shadow than what is shown. I would add a little more dark toning to the areas you have dark toning and to emphasize that the main vein has a dark and light side.

Great job Marina! The color and texture of the crabapples are so good! I think the leaf on the right is the back view and the other two are front views, but they all look like back views to me. I think showing the secondary veins attach to the main vein would help them read more as fronts.

Doug, thank you for your feedback. I will try to fix it.

Hi Margaret, Lovely study of a rose! I particularly like the dissected section. You have made that complex section of a rose both readable and aesthetically pleasing. Good job!

Great, thank you for all of the tips. I’m going to draw it again with all of that in mind and see what happens 🙂

Hi Renata- I am wondering if the secondary veins end at the leaf edge or do they turn up before they reach the edge? The veins are very prominent especially on the leaf on the right. Is that cluster of leaves in the middle suppose to be attached to the stem and we can’t see it? It looks like it is floating there and I find it confusing. Also t…[Read more]

Thanks, Doug! Really helpful feedback. I only noticed the branch was floating after seeing it on the Art Feed. I will try to add a branch and am now struggling to add a rose to the lower right corner. Gosh, they are complicated!

So good Renata!!!! Love the addition of the second falling petal. The drawing has a wild look to it which works so well!!! Amazing job!!!!

Thanks again Doug! I think I will call this one done. It was Sam’s idea to add another falling petal! My poppies are still going, I had never had so many.
-
Beautiful movement in this composition. So many lovely moments where the stems intersect.
