So graceful Elizabeth! It is beautifully rendered! I would add a hair bit more dark toning on the flower so it will hold it’s own against the dark leaves.

I really appreciate how I can see the leaf through the iris petal. It made for a lovely moment of discovery for me as a viewer!

Good call from Vern and nice fix from you! I might even add just a touch of cast shadow where the sepal meets the rose to indicate that it curves under the flower.

I love how the pomegranate feels ripped open. The edges are handled in such a way that I can feel the moment before where someone took their fingers and split it apart.

The pomegranates were growing here in a friends garden. They split open after a rain.

Will try some green or blue on white flowers. These were so starkly white it was hard to get the feeling!

Yes, Hydrangeas are challenging! I love this drawing as it is. The colors are spectacular! The deep greens agains the saturated colors, so beautiful! And it really gives the essence of the hydrangea.
