Thank you, Sara. I was excited to draw treacle berry, new to me.

The lighting is better on this photo. Otherwise, I think that I am done!

All pencil. I was tempted to do a wash behind this, but was afraid to try it. What else could help it to stop feeling like everything is floating in the air?

I’m learning to water color and tried this drawing with just water color; no pencil. I had wanted the horse chestnut seed pod in the center to be the focus, but couldn’t get the leaf underneath it quite right. Is there some way to use pencil to improve that?

Great color choice Gale! You could add more range of toning to emphasize the onions form more. Also, because of the shape of an onion, the highlight is usually more rectangular and follows the shape of the onion. An easy fix! Nice job!

Good job Gale! Nice colors and good range of tones on the color version. Going over the red with the light yellow ochre pencil could burnish it and give the tomato skin the translucent quality they often have.

Wonderful page Helene! I love the composition with the mix of sizes, shapes and colors! You have nice, bright highlights, but some of the tomatoes look fuzzy to me. Maybe it is the quality of your post’s picture. If not, I would consider going in and saturating the colors a little more and burnish too! I would also decrease the size of the r…[Read more]

I love this time of year and all the colorful leaves it provides for us to draw! These look wonderful Gale! The highlights on the leaf on the top left really makes it glow! Adding more highlights (lighter areas) on the other leaves will help give them more definition. The vibrant patterning on autumn leaves can hide the highlights and toning, but…[Read more]
