I really like the free flow in your nature journaling, so pretty!

Fun page! I love the way the final bean looks like a crazy cartoon character! I once did a sketchbook/nature journal with a little emerging bean seed in the corner of each page. In the end it worked sort of like a flip book. So much fun. I had my bean in a wet paper towel in a baggie. How did you preserve yours?

I had them in a bag with a wet paper towel too. When they become larger I take away the platic bag, otherwise they start to mold.

Sam, experimenting with background. This was the setting: a short concrete wall and trees behind. I’ll keep trying out color “surround”, not used to it.

This is my first attempt using colored pencils instead of watercolors. I found it faster to finish my subject but more difficult….everything’s a learning experience!

Lovely to see the sliced orange. Makes a nice composition. And good foreshortened drawing. Cast shadows are a challenge. You have such rich warm darks in your oranges, the color of the shadow seems too gray. I’d add some worm brown. and watch the shape. They would probably not fall so far below the oranges and would be darker directly under the…[Read more]
