Thank you Doug for all the suggestions. It’s always said that when trying to learn something it’s good to try explaining to someone else. I was going off memory of what I saw Wendy do, hence the similarity, but it’s a good case in point that sometimes I don’t remember quite right what I saw.In my last few drawings I’ve skipped straight to step…

I love all the different tomatoe varieties! I also really like that you included some flwoers and green tomatoes still on their vines.

Wonderful page Helene! I love the composition with the mix of sizes, shapes and colors! You have nice, bright highlights, but some of the tomatoes look fuzzy to me. Maybe it is the quality of your post’s picture. If not, I would consider going in and saturating the colors a little more and burnish too! I would also decrease the size of the r…[Read more]

This is gorgeous Denise! The rose is so delicate and beautiful! I think you could go in and deepen some areas, like the “v” areas where petals overlap without losing the delicacy. I think the rose looks particularly delicate because the sepals, stem and leaves are so strong in dark colors and beautifully executed! Bravo!

This is beautifully drawn Karye and a highly successful image of white flowers! You apparently got a lot out of the workshop!

Yes Helene! The leaves are looking great! They now have definition and contrast and it has improved the entire drawing!

Hi Sara- this looks good! Except for step 1, it is basically how it is illustrated in Wendy’s videos and books. I am curious about step 1, but if it helps you visualize your process, by all means do it! I start with what is your step 2, which is applying a grisailles layer in color pencil (using an appropriate color which is usually a darker t… - Load More

Great color choice Gale! You could add more range of toning to emphasize the onions form more. Also, because of the shape of an onion, the highlight is usually more rectangular and follows the shape of the onion. An easy fix! Nice job!
