Nice toning studies

I like the way you are experimenting with the layering of colors. It make the drawing so much richer.
-
On the next on I would pull back on the dark grisaille and add more of the key color.
-
yes, they look more like olives in coloration.
-
Hi Kyra – good job – now go back in and lift away a bit more of a highlight on the right one with your eraser. And smooth out the dark shadow in the middle (If the light is coming from the left) so that the form rounds.
-
Ah I see – yes this worked out well.

Hi Sharon, Beautiful drawings. I particularly like your solitary pear! Nice shape, lovely subtle toning! I think you could do a little more work on the weave. I’m losing the cylinder shapes.

These twigs just jump off the page! Good job! The only thing I would comment on is that there seems to be a white line between the cast shadow and the twig on the thickest, bottom one. If it is meant to be the reflective light, you should smooth the transition toward the deep twig shadow so it isn’t such a sharp line.

Hi Amity, your drawing of the lime is spot on. I would soften the cast shadow a bit. And I’d add some more tone in the deepest shadow ares. I’d use a dark green. Then it would really pop.
-
I just went back in the feed and see I advised you to add to the shadow. I think the value is correct now, but only directly under the lime. You should now erase to taper it so it fades as it moves away from the lime.

Yes! looking good! I’d add a touch more shadow on the right side and bottom.

It keeps getting better! And yes, I think it does need a bit more tone in the core shadow on the right side.

Yes I think that rounds it out nicely. Maybe add some more weight to the lines of the scales in the darkened side.

Beautiful, Sheila! Also an interesting angle. I don’t work much with watercolors, so I’ll let someone else answer you questions.

Nice job! I’d add more tone to the top tube. It is very light compared to the rest of them.

Beautiful smooth toning! And nice scales to test for color! I’d pick one of those bright green now to brighten up the apple. It looks a bit grey

Your toning is getting so good! Beautiful! Only comment I have is about the cast shadow. Be careful about that dark shadow directly under the sphere. It extends too far up the side of the sphere. Great job!

Hi Rita, I really like the way the dark leaves frame the lighter cones. And you have created a great rounded feel to the smaller cone. I’d add some more shadow to the bottom of the larger cone to give it the same spherical feeling.
