Yes Maureen! Beautiful. I loved the way the leaves curled around the fruit as well. Great work! The orange and green contrast is so great on the Kraft paper. Great composition.

Gorgeous Rita, thank you for educating us on the California fire zone ecosystem. I recall from my California taxonomy field trips that this plant is from Africa but introduced and naturalized into California. It is used as a laxative, and I remember the teacher quoting that people think it smells like ” mice, wet dog, peanut butter, and burnt…[Read more]

Beautiful, Katy. So warm and rich and glowing on the Kraft paper. Saturated orange and skillful shadows!

Gorgeous. It is a bit confusing though, that you have the ripe seeds, but no ripe pomegranate. I’m only getting technical with you since you’re a pro. π It’s almost like I want to see a cross section of a ripe fruit to see how those seeds lie within the entire fruit. And wow – just gorgeously drawn, Sheila. All of it. The seeds are epic.

Sounds like a good plan to me. The green will set off the reds and warm browns nicely and give a holiday colour scheme to boot.

Thanks Vern- its called african senna – according to picture this- it seems like it grows in areas that were burned out- i am in california and in the places where there were wild fires, there are lots of beautiful wild flowers- if my calligraphy were better I would write the name in the upper left corner
