We’ll be so lucky if we get the bonus of seeing another view. 🙂 This is a beautiful drawing. It’s so hard to achieve saturated reds and a great range of values in reds. Beautifully done, and so nice that it offered you flowers in so many stages. Today in the webinar we thought you could still add dark sepia in a few key places to darken and…[Read more]

Such great work, Sheila. I haven’t drawn one myself yet so haven’t looked closely at the fibrous/hairy part. Could it use more definition there or would you emboss next time – or is it that light and soft? What do you think?

And nice treatment of a tricky, light colour scheme..

In the webinar today we really appreciated the fine hairs on the stem. Great texture. Great job, Linda.

You have done such a great job capturing all the details on this branch. Just wonderful. Vern agrees. 🙂

Thanks for comments. I will work on toning some more. I see that the detail area does appear flat.

Well, it was going to be Squash Farinata for dinner tonight, but I will hold off until I can give this a whirl on kraft. Does anyone else ever feel a bit of Hannibal Lecter having a drawing subject for dinner? One gets to know the subject so well and then . . . . . WHACK!

In the webinar today many of us love this drawing just as it is now, Ishbel. It’s so great to see your process and approach.

Thanks Sam. I watched the webinar last night. Someone asked if it is to scale…it is. I might leave it there…I’ll think about it!
-
Love your detail. Someday I hope I will be able to do that:)
-
this is just beautiful…I love it as is

Extraordinarily beautiful, as is, for me.

Thanks everyone…you’ve convinced me to leave it at this stage!

Thanks Katy for your input. I have to admit this flower seemed like it should have been easier than it was. Part of the problem was it changed all the time!! And now that the flower has completely opened I feel compelled to draw that view. -

So beautiful! You really captured the feel of this flower with all the angles and various degrees of maturity. I particularly like the veining in the petals and the colorful way you have toned the greens. Plus good tonal range! Really nice!

Hi Douglass,
Nice toning on the beet! I like its smoothness. It’s very pleasing. What I’d really like to see now is more attention to the details of the leaves. I think the contrast of the simplicity of the vegetable with more a complex study of the leaves would be compelling. I’d also add more colors to the leaves. Keep them predominately green,…[Read more] -

I like the sharpness of the stem against the smooth surface of the body.

Yes, on Kraft paper would be the ticket on this one.

Nice drawing. I do agree with Doug that it could use more tonal range. I’m thinking that along with bringing in more tone on the shadow side, some carefully placed highlights on the highlight side would really make it pop!

Hi Sheila- I am confused about how this would be presented with one poem and two drawings on two pages. I was wondering if you could have it matted with oval shape(s) cut out for the artwork and you could write the poem on the matte itself. You could have the matte be big enough to fit the entire poem and wouldn’t necessarily need to have both i…[Read more]
