Hi Sheila- the drawing is beautiful! I particularly love the view inside the pod on the lower left! Maybe it is the quality of the posting, but the lettering looks crooked to me. “Milk” looks like it is on an angle. Possibly you were waiting for feedback, but I would also point out the lettering is faint. Could the “New Paltz” part either move up…[Read more]

Totally open to feedback here. Think I might need to rewrite the top lettering. See anything wrong there? Other suggestions?

@doug-milne Doug, I think you are spot on about the lettering, all three points. That was exactly what I was wondering about. Really appreciate the feedback. I’m hoping the lettering will erase easily! Thanks!

I can’t wait til I know how to do this! I’m on lesson 3 in Basics…….Patience…I love the delicate milkweed strands.

I’ve lightened the top leaf as Much as possible. The paper can’t tolerate any more erasures. However, I suspect the initial drawing of that leaf was askew. The lines of this leaf are not as natural looking as the others. It shows up more with color than within the sketch unfortunately. A lesson learned. Onward and upward!

This drawing has a very sweet quality. And your drawing of the buds is quite nice. I like the way you have wrapped the sepals around the buds. You could do some more work on the open flowers. Start shading each of those petals. Maybe draw a separate petal on another sheet of paper, so you can establish colors and toning for form.

Hi Cathie, Such a pretty little flower! I love the full range of values over all. And the wide range of colors in the stem. That deep shadow in the center of the flower and the shadow on the stem under the flower really make it pop. I can see you are working on creating a curling petal with the highlights and shadows keep working on that. Do some…[Read more]

Hi Susan,
I like what you are doing with the yellows. And I’d like to see you use some of that brown you have no the edge in the shadows. It would unify the drawing and add depth to the shape. -

Nice leaf! I really feel that “pillowing” between the veins. The embossing could taper a bit more as it gets to the edge. I want to see a distinct difference in the width between the veins as they emerge from the stem the reach the stem.

Yes, what a great feel, delicacy, to this page.

Just stunning, Ingrid. The composition, feel, flow, palette. If I”m being critical – You could check your drawing on that top left leaf that curls – perhaps the main vein isn’t lining up right? Wendy has a lesson on that in JoBD.

Thanks for the feedback everyone. @ishbel @doug-milne @sam-mcwilliams Yes I probably did go too dark on the hollow part. Not sure what type of pepper it is but it almost fills an A4 paper.
