Great page, Linda. On future leaves you can try toning down those secondary veins so they don’t jump out too much. Observe what they do as they reach the edges of the leaves, Let the toning run right over them on the shaded side.

Hi Nell – that reflective highlight is still too severe – as is the dark line under it – gives it a cracked egg yolk feel rather than an orb.

What great trick you pulled, turning that lower left stick into that beautiful mushroom. So fun to watch this progress.

Hi Yelena- the color selection and saturation are great! I think you could use a little more dark toning on the right towards the bottom, without messing up your reflective highlight. The shape of the white markings make me think of a strawberry and I wonder if they were more roundish? I don’t think I have ever seen such a tall, thin apple. What k…[Read more]

Hi Doug – You are right about white markings(( They should have looked greenish to begin with, and I did a pale green layer to make them look green. But they are still white)) Also I do not have much practice with embossing tool. I used it as a pencil. Probably, I should have just touch the paper to make the markings round. The apple is really…[Read more]

Glad Wendy could give you some feedback on that overlap issue. I really am captivated by this onion. 🙂 I gotta go draw one now!

Beautiful, Jerry. The lights and darks, colours, and description of those tubular-esque petals is so vibrant and successful. Beautiful observation.

It looks so great, Sheila. Fun to see you today. I love the additions and now you have to go even crazier and fill in that space we talked about 🙂 Beautiful drawing.

Hi Sam, so fun hanging out with everyone today in the webinar. I tried the funky trick Vern had you show us but I am not getting it…maybe leave a comment on my portfolio when you have a minute. All new things take time to iron out eh?

I’m going crazy here. I really wanted to use the little moss that pulled up with a mushroom. Also, I wanted to bring my eye back up from the heavy bottom. Everything is drying out, but it’s been fun to keep adding elements.

@vern thanks, vern. I’m glad you think the (pretty dried out) moss works. Looking for one more specimen for the right of the puffball trio.

I love throw Shiela! I want to see spores bursting out of that puff ball 🙂
-
@pgthompson thanks Pam. That’s a good image, bursting spores even though the thought of inhaling them freaks me out 😲

Hi Sheila, Nice page! Such great observation! I’m a member of the New Jersey Mycological Association and a sucker for mushrooms, so can appreciate that the details are spot on. I like the way you have shown the important identifying aspects. Gills, cap texture, etc. I especially like the bolete. You really got the colors and texture on that one!
-
@katylyness. Thanks, Katy. That’s very cool that you’re into mushrooms. I appreciate hearing that I got the details. Really great to see you at the monthly meeting.
