What a. great “Nature Journal” page, Maureen. Love the story it tells me of a day or days in your life in Edmonton. Right now I can hear acorns falling off the trees and bombing cars in my Vancouver neighbourhood. 🙂

Nicely done, Sheila. What a beautiful page, as is usual for you. 🙂 Next time I’d bring the lettering on the bottom of the page up a bit, to kind of match the negative space on the top of the drawing. But if you are going to label the individual mushrooms then it’ll work. 🙂 Way to be brave.

First coloured pencil drawing – wow! Have you tried red violet as your grisaille shading/toning? Sometimes I’ll use the red violet for my grisaille and then just use some dark sepia at the end lightly to darken where needed to round the form in shadow. These tomatoes have a great glow to them.

I bet you’ll like the water-colours once you get comfortable with them.

Here’s my first attempt at wild mushrooms and “conscious “ lettering. Fun and nerve racking, both.

Sam, I debated bringing up the bottom lettering. Wish I had, but now I have another challenge… to find something little! Thanks so much for the lettering workshop wit Vern. It was so fun and informative. A total eye opener, actually. And for all the research, tips, and resources you both shared. See you again!

This is so beautiful Sam, I love how subtle the left bottom curve is on the main peach.

I’ve been working on this “wild finds” page and hope to get the lettering in today. Any suggestions?
