Hi Sheila,
Beautiful Drawing. I really like the way the composition is developing! I’m excited to see how you incorporate the sections of fruit. And you’ve handled the color transition on the fruit beautifully. My suggestions would be that overall you could add some touches of shadow to make everything pop. Especially in the leaves.
As for the…[Read more] -

First effort at a spiral form

Hi Jennie, I really see that spiral! Good job! I would now go in and add some more darks between the scales. The darkest darks are missing. I can tell you are aware of the light source coming from the upper left, and are using it to define the form, but you can push that even more.

I think you are very brave to draw a pine cone and did a great job. I love the shape! I’ve never seen a real Ponderosa pine cone. They don’t live in my area.

Thanks Laura! I did dunk it in water to close it up because the open form was even more daunting 😳

My attempts to incorporate Sam’s feedback – the paper started to disintegrate so leaving it here and will do a new version eventually.

I’m wondering if you all can give me some pointers on putting the stamens in? In terms of the paper, this is a larger sheet of paper, so I’m planning to put in a section of fruit and maybe a flower if I can still find one. Any other suggestions?

You’ve painted a Christmas card! I just love the colors and especially the new growth at the top. Beautiful! I don’t think that flowers grows where I live; will have to look it up.

Hi Lucille- such nice refreshing colors! On the right hand row, which are the end stage you still need more range of tones to enhance the spheres shape. The blue sphere on the top is the most successful. It has a good range of tones from the highlight through to the darker outside edge. I would work in the two greens and the yellow with that in…[Read more]

Absolutely! I thought the drawing needed something else. There is nothing for it, but to go to Hawaii! -
